Burns Lake Mayor Luke Strimbold spoke at a press conference in Victoria last week after the announcement of the province’s $3 million transportation plan to improve safety on Hwy. 16.
The province proposes three possible routes connecting communities along Hwy. 16: one connecting Burns Lake, Houston, Telkwa and Smithers; a second proposed route would connect Hazelton, Gitsegukla, Kitwanga and Terrace; and a third route would travel between Burns Lake, Fraser Lake, Vanderhoof and Prince George.
Mayor Strimbold is part of an advisory committee that will oversee implementation of the action plan.
