Tintagel and Sheraton Creek wildfires has merged

BC Wildfire Service has named the merge under Tintagel fire
The Tintagel and Sheraton Creek wildfires have merged under the name Tintagel wildfire which is now estimated at 5,100 hectares (BC Wildfire Service photos/Lakes District News).

BC Wildfire Service made some updates on the Tintagel and Sheraton Creek wildfire situation as of July 12, 2023 at 10:18:25 PM.

They are saying the wildfires and merged and thus they are naming it under Tintagel fire. The increase in size is a result of fire growth and the merging of these two wildfires.

The size of the wildfire is now approximate of about 5,100 hectares.

Already the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako have have issued active evacuation orders and alerts.

Evacuation orders has been placed in Boer Mountain Road north of the Kager Lake Campsite,and to the west of the existing Tintagel Evacuation Alert Area and all lands and properties accessed by north of Co-op Lake, accessed by Augier Main Forest Service Road, and extending east on the north side of Hannay Road.

Additionally, all lands and properties accessed by Fisheries Road north of the junction with Augier Main FSR. Additionally, all areas accessed by the Grizzly Main FSR south of Babine Lake. This includes portions of the Sutherland River Park, Babine Lake Marine Park’s Pinkut Creek Site, and the Pinkut Creek Spawning Channel are also under evacuation order.

BC Wildfire Service has stated the wildfire is displaying rank 3 behaviour (vigorous surface fire with moderate spread).

Crews and heavy equipment are working on creating guards on the south and west sides of the fire. They are saying that there are some guard on the east side of Boer Mountain.

Road conditions and smoke have made monitoring detection difficult.
