Two accidents in one day, results in minor injuries

At approximately 11:40 a.m. on Sept. 10, 2011, Burns Lake RCMP detachment received a report of a motor vehicle incident on Hwy. 35, South of the Eagle Creek Rd.

Police immediately attended the scene and determined that the adult female driver lost control of her 1996 four door car while attempting to change her iPod.

The car went off the road into the West ditch, rolled over and came to rest upright. The driver and her 17 yr. old passenger sought medical attention at the Lakes District Hospital and were later released.

Police remind motorists to take the necessary precautions to keep themselves and their  passengers safe by wearing seat belts, obeying speed limits and giving themselves sufficient time to reach their destination.

Police also remind drivers to pull over when required to use electronic devices.

RCMP Burns Lake Detachment continue to investigate this matter.

Then at approximately 1:05 p.m. on Sept. 10, 2011, the Burns Lake RCMP detachment received a second  report of a single motor vehicle incident on Hwy. 35, near Frame Rd.

Police immediately attended the scene where the B.C. Ambulance Service and the Burns Lake Fire and Rescue Department were already on scene.

Police investigation revealed the adult male driver and lone occupant of a flat deck high boy truck was traveling South when the motor vehicle left the road surface and entered the West ditch striking a guide wire on a power pole.

The motor vehicle then proceeded across the highway and came to rest in the East ditch.

Witnesses to the incident came to the aid of the driver and called emergency services.

The driver who was wearing his seat belt was transported to the Lakes District Hospital for treatment for minor injuries.

No charges are being considered as the cause of the incident was due to a medical condition.

Police appreciate the efforts of the Burns Lake Fore and Rescue Department for conducting traffic control in the area and to those witnesses who rendered assistance to the driver at the scene. Burns Lake RCMP Traffic Services have concluded their investigation.
