Two vehicle accident near Vanderhoof

Vanderhoof RCMP are on scene of a two vehicle crash that occurred on Highway 16 West at McNolty Road at 10:12 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013.

Vanderhoof RCMP, along with Prince George Regional Provincial Traffic Services and IRSU are on scene of a two vehicle crash that occurred on Highway 16 West at McNolty Road at 10:12 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013.

An east bound car, gold coloured Chev Aveo, crossed the centre line and collided head on with a west bound semi lowbed tractor trailer unit. The female driver and lone occupant of the car was trapped in the vehicle. The driver suffered multiple injuries, believed to be severe and was transported to hospital. The male driver and lone occupant of the lowbed was uninjured.

The investigation is still in it's infancy and causal factors have yet to be determined. A collision reconstructionist has been called and is enroute to the scene of the crash. Highway 16 is closed in both directions in order that forensic experts can identify and document the physical evidence at the scene. Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure are aware and on scene. A detour has been established via Bearhead Road and Telegraph Road. Drive BC has been updated with this information.
