Village of Burns Lake intern staying on

Sheryl Worthing, Village of Burns Lake's chief administrative officer said that corporate development services intern, Kaleigh Milinazzo will be extending her time working for the municipality.

Sheryl Worthing, Village of Burns Lake's chief administrative officer said that corporate development services intern, Kaleigh Milinazzo will be extending her time working for the municipality.

"Kaleigh will be continuing as the corporate development services intern with the Village of Burns Lake until early 2012," Worthing said to Lakes District News last week.

The internship was originally for a five month term, however Worthing said Milinazzo is currently assisting with project management of the Tom Forsyth Memorial Arena biomass installation and is helping to develop clearer processes for village development services.

"Kaleigh will also be thoroughly involved with the 2011 municipal election that will take place in November. We are pleased to have a local resident and University of Northern B.C. graduate on our staff team," she added.

"We had originally thought that we would only run the intern program until the end of August but Kaleigh is enjoying her intern experience so much that she is able to continue for the remainder of the year.  This allows us to run the program for almost a full year as we did with our first intern program [whereby Natasha Letchford was employed]," Worthing added.

Milinazzo graduated from the University of Northern B.C. in April this year with a bachelor of political science and international studies.

To be eligible the intern program, students needed to have a student membership with the North Central Local Government Management Association, be studying in a program that is relevant to local government and be from the local area.

"The program is funded through general revenue budget which allocates funding for staff administration," Worthing said.
