Village to pave Fourth Avenue

The village is investing about $160,000 to upgrade the avenue.

Fourth Avenue in Burns Lake will soon see some upgrades.

According to Sheryl Worthing, Chief Administrative Officer for the Village of Burns Lake, Fourth Avenue was chosen to be paved because the surface of the avenue has disintegrated in places to where asphalt no longer exists.

According to the village, the new asphalt surface will also help maintain water control by reshaping the surface to proper elevation and grade.

Last week, Burns Lake council authorized village staff to award the Fourth Avenue paving contract to LB Paving for the tendered amount of $159,625.96 plus GST.

The 2016 approved budget includes a total of $160,000 for the purpose of resurfacing streets and roads.

A call for offers for tenders was put on B.C. Bid and the closing date was June 30, 2016. LB Paving was the only bidder.

The paving of Fourth Avenue is expected to be completed by Aug. 5, 2016.
