In a press release issued late last week the Village of Burns Lake announced that the current director of finance Sheryl Worthing, will assume the position of chief administration officer as of March 1, 2011.

The top job recently became vacant due to the resignation of present chief administrative officer Tim Palmer who announced that he has accepted a position in Revelstoke last week, as reported in Lakes District News edition of Jan. 19, 2011.

In the press release the village states that Worthing was born and raised in Burns Lake and she has worked for the village office for over 15 years in several financial roles.

Worthing has also been the deputy chief administrative officer for the past nine years.

"Assuming the role of chief administrative officer will allow Sheryl to expand and apply her skills. She has a vision for the community and is eager to work closely with council and staff to ensure that Burns Lake reaches its full potential," said mayor Bernice Magee via the press release.

"We are looking forward to working with Sheryl in her new position and we see this as a positive opportunity for Sheryl and for the community," mayor Magee added.

Worthing said to Lakes District News, "I am very excited about my new appointment and I look forward to working with council, staff and members of the community in this capacity."

"I encourage anyone with questions or suggestions to stop by the village office, my door is always open," she added. Worthing went on to say that the director of financial services position will be posted.
