The Burns Lake Fire and Rescue Department attended a fire across the road from the Island Gospel Fellowship Church, on Hwy. 35, early last week. Acting fire chief Jason Blackwell said that, according to a bystander, the fire was caused by downed power lines which were clipped by a low-bed trailer. “Luckily the grass was green, so the fire spread was relatively slow and we were able to knock it down quickly,” he said.
