Allen was born April 16, 1924 in Burns Lake, BC and passed away August 31, 2019 at the Pines in Burns Lake at the age of 95.
Allen served overseas in WWII from 1942 to 1946 in England where he met the love of his life Winnie and they were married for over 71 years. He worked at various jobs over his career, the longest being a Mechanic at the Department of Highways for over 30 years.
His passions and talents were many including skiing, snowshoeing, golfing, bowling, gardening, picking berries, crafting rock jewellery, burl coffee tables, clocks and bowls as well as guitars and violins.
Many will remember his skate sharpening precision on his homemade skate sharpener. He was an avid outdoorsman and volunteer being a lifetime member of the Omineca Ski Club, organizing horseshoe events at the local fall fair and doing countless hours of volunteer work at the legion as well as coaching minor hockey in his earlier years.
Allen was a very kind and loving father and grandfather and had incredible patience with children. He is survived by his two sons Allan (Mae), David (Bari), two daughters Carolyn, Bonnie (Dallas), six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
It feels like yesterday Dad we were altogether as one but now its time for you to rest Your work is finally done Your loving family and friends.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Allen and Winnie on October 12, 2019 at the Island Gospel @ 11 am.
