Anna was born March 10, 1911 in Hague, Sask., and passed away in the Pines, Burns Lake, B.C. on May 18, 2004 at the age of 93.

Anna married Henry Giesbrecht Oct. 15, 1927 in Sask. They later moved to Vancouver and then to Tatalrose, B.C. in 1951, where Henry and his boys began sawmilling.

Later they purchased the Takysie Lake store and post office. Anna who started her midwifery in Vancouver continued to deliver babies in their homes or in hers, all through the Lakes District and surrounding areas, where she assisted in the delivery of surviving triplets in her home at Takysie Lake. She was also gifted with the ability to soothe and massage injuries and many people came from far and wide to see her.

She had a gift of being able to play an instrument by ear and enjoyed many a sing-a-long. All will remember seeing her many doillies and handicrafts at the Lakes District Fall Fair, her door was always open where she turned no one away.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her sister Nettie, sons Hank (Chris), Jake (Deanna), Gordon (Annette) and daughters Ann Bennett, Verna (Gilbert) Neufeld, numerous nephews and nieces.

Anna had seven children, 27 grandchildren, 58 great granchildren and 16 great, great grandchildren and three due this year.

She was predeceased by son John 1988, husband Henry 1995 and son Abe 2003.

Her services were held at the Tatalrose church and burial at the Tatalrose Cemetary, May 20, 2004.

If anyone has stories to tell of when Anna worked on them or helped them in some way, or if she was there for their delivery, Anna’s granddaughter is looking for more information on her life to write a story of her life.
