Babs passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Jan 15, 2018, at the age of 88, at Bulkley Lodge in Smithers, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers.
Babs was born in Burns Lake on July 13, 1929, to Delmer and Alice Cassidy. She grew up with sisters Doreen & Marj and brother Ken, at Colleymount, where their parents ran the local Post Office and store.
Babs met her sweetheart Cyril, while working on the Shelford ranch, they were married on June 9, 1948. They lived at Wistaria where Babs helped run the farm, often on her own, while Cyril was away trapping, guiding and following his political endeavors. They lived there until 1968, when Cyril's political career necessitated the move to Victoria. They lived in Victoria until 1973, at which time they moved to Terrace.
In 1980 they returned to Victoria, as Cyril's career again took them in that direction. They remained in Victoria until Cyril passed away in 2001. After a short stay Mom moved to their summer cabin at Colleymount, later on moving to Smithers.
Babs is survived by her children Shirley (Doug), David (Carol), Kerry (Sandra), and Ann (Doug). Grandchildren Cheryl (Rob), Michael, Maureen (Barry), Tanya (Mike), Kari-Lynn (Steve), Jennifer (Shayne), Wendy (Willy), Melissa, Gary & Lisa; as well as 16 Great Grandchildren.
Predeceased by her mother and father, her siblings, her husband and grandson Kevin.
We would like to say a special thanks to Joy and Lil for the several wonderful years of care they provided for our Mom. Also, a huge thank you to the staff at the Bulkley Lodge.
Service to be held in Burns Lake on February 3, 2018 at the Island Gospel Church at 1:00 pm.
