In loving memory ~
Our beloved mom (Kay) passed away on August 12, 2023, at the age of 82 in Burns Lake Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Kelowna BC, moved to Burns Lake with her family at the age of 14.
Kay was a loving, loyal, devoted wife, mother of four, grandmother of six, great-grandmother of 3 and a friend to many. Married to James (Jimmy) Lee Minger on October 27th, 1962, in Burns Lake where they lived out their lives.
Kay loved her children and enjoyed spending time watching the girls' figure skating and the boys' minor hockey. She spent a portion of her life raising money for the two clubs as well as helping on the front lines preparing for events with these local clubs.
The things that Kay loved most were spending time with family, catering special events, camping, fishing, and curling.
Many may remember Kay's years working at the Lotto booth in the Mall and being known as "Lotto Kay".
Kay was happy to be involved in various clubs in the community and was so thrilled when she received the Citizen of the Year award.
Kay enjoyed annual family Christmas gatherings at the curling rink where she loved preparing meals, giving grab bags and presents to all the children in every family, as well as preparing Halloween bags for all the trick-or-treaters that would venture out to her home.
After Jimmy passed away Kay lived in the family home where she spent her time reading, colouring, visiting with family & friends as well as watching her favourite TV programs. She had many visitors in this time including family, friends, and caregivers.
Survived by her sons Shane Minger and Cole Minger (Christine), and daughters Holley Minger and Pamela Ramnes (Samual). Grandchildren Natalie Bridge (Sean), Colin Ramnes, James Minger, Kyle Minger, Jordan Minger (Jessica), & Madison Minger. Great-grandchildren Anna Bridge, Benton Bridge & Heather Bridge. Sister Jean Payne.
Predeceased by her parents, Amos and Laura Ritchey. Brothers, Bud & Larry Ritchey, and husband of 54 years James Minger.
We would like to say a special thank you to all the people, groups and organizations that have helped Mom over this last year. We have seen that it takes a village to raise a child, but the same rings true during our end years, it really did take a village to care for Mom. Thank you to all the staff, nurses, and doctors at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia. Thank you to all the Staff at Burns Lake
Hospital for taking such great care of Mom while she was there. To all her home support staff from Northern Health, The Link, Elain, Tammy & Bonny (Meals on Wheels). Shelly Peterson for your care and friendship with Mom over the years. Guy Shaffer - checking in on Mom every week. Diana Cutting - Mom loved her feet pampering days. Thank you, Bonnie Jean, for bringing sister Jean for visits, Mom really did appreciate that (and all your great baking) Jordan and Jessica for cleaning Mom's home and being there whenever she needed you.
You all meant so much to her, she was a simple woman, not a lover of things, but loved "her people" and you all were her people.
Kay will be forever loved and remembered.
