December 17, 1940 - July 2, 2020
Doting husband and loving father David Benson passed suddenly on July 2, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Rita, his sons Craig (Donna) and Trent (Susan), grandchildren Jason (Megan), Megan (Peter), Shelby, Jordy and Trevor, and his great-grandchildren Ryliegh, Davis, Mila & Ella. He is predeceased by his parents, Oliver and Violet, his brother Harold and his sister Marilyn.
Dave was born in Vancouver, BC on December 17, 1940. He grew up in Burns Lake, BC surrounded by his brothers Harold, Pat, Bruce and Howard, and his sister, Marilyn. He met his forever love, Rita and they married on May 19, 1962. They raised two hard-working sons while Dave worked as an electrician and school bus driver for School District 91. After building their dream home with a view of the lake, Dave spent his retirement devoted to his faith and his family. Dave could often be found walking up and down the avenues for exercise, practicing his faith with his congregation at the Kingdom Hall, quadding with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, or enjoying coffee on the deck with Rita.
Dave was generous, kind, humble and selfless. He was a pillar not only of his family and his congregation but also of the entire community.
The family would like to thank the first responders, and the many family and friends who have offered their support and love. At Dave's request, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
