February 4, 1950 - February 13, 2021
On February 13, 2021, at the age of 71 our beautiful mother was taken from us too soon. Dorothy Marlene Derksen ( nee Schultz) of Burns Lake, mother to Laurel and Aron, birth mother to Tammy Denham of Camrose, Alta.
Loving grandmother to Sarah and Tammy's daughter Jordyn.
Dorothy was the fifth child of eight, born in Carrot River, Sask, to Abe and Mary Schultz. She had six sisters, Catherine, Elaine, Esther, Bertha, Donna, Janet and one brother, Raymond. She is predeceased by her father, mother and sister Esther.
Dorothy was the light of our lives, supportive of our successes and endlessly patient through our failures, she never hesitated to help us with any problem that came our way. She raised Laurel and Aron with generosity and love, sometimes tough love when we needed it.
My daughter Sarah was the Apple of her eye when she was born in 1994. There was something missing in her life, however, the child she gave up for adoption when she was a teenager. She decided to seek out her daughter Tammy and they ultimately found each other and built a relationship. She also left behind her partner of 25 years, Laurence. They were very much looking forward to his retirement so they could go camping, fishing and take trips together.
Dorothy loved swans and with that in mind, she wished to have her ashes scattered at their favorite spot where she would always see swans gathering.
