A kind and gently soul left us today, the 21st of August, 2011. Joe was the name that everybody knew him by. He came into the world on August 4, 1931. Life had already dealt him a bad hand, his mother died at his birth. Joe from that day on was moved around to a few different families. Even though life was not always rosy it never made him mean spirited; he was a very caring and happy person. When he was 10 years old, Bill Saunders brought him to the family farm where Joe found a family that cared about him; from that day onward he became part of that family. Joe went to school in Palling and got to be part of the neighbourhood. Lydia Saunders was his mom and teacher for some of that time. In later years after Bill Saunders passed away Joe made his own way working in the bush. He also was very close with the Mike and Violet Orr family. Joe loved life and the people that passed his way. A few years before he was of retirement years he cut the fairways at Carnoustie Golf and Country Club. The golfers appreciated his efforts to keep things looking good before a tournament. When he turned 65 he decided that he had worked long enough and was going to take life easy. As time went on he had a routine of going to the San Bar where he played Keno. He looked forward to this everyday where he would have his coffee and visit with who ever was around. His needs were not complicated but it was what he loved to do. His absence as been noticed by many of the San Bar crew. He is survived by his daughter Lindsey Henry who lives down south
