GRACE EUNICE KEEFE

Eunice passed away on July 1st, Canada Day, after a long and valiant struggle with cancer.

Eunice died surrounded by family. Her passing was mourned and her life celebrated by a large gathering of family and friends on Wednesday at the First Mennonite Church. Her beautiful spirit radiated enthusiasm, optimism, faith, and love and will continue to warm the hearts of all who remembered her.

Born in St. John, New Brunswick, Eunice graduated from the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. She traveled west to the Lakes District with the plan to work as a registered nurse for one year. Eunice met her husband John Keefe in Burns Lake and they were married in 1951.

Eunice is survived by her husband John, and four daughters: Jocelyn (Mike), Diane (Fred), Barbara (Doug), and Ingrid (Tim).

Eunice adored her eleven grandchildren: Alexandra, Jake, Ingrid, Elizabeth, Luke, Hayley, Lauren, Gillian, Kate, Tom and Bonnie.

Eunice is also survived by her sister Lois Peason from Ottawa.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Eunice Keefe “Spirit of Canada” scholarship c/o the Royal Bank, P.O. Box 289, Burns Lake, B.C.
