In Loving Memory ~

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Helen E. Pattie (nee. Lipp) this month at Kelowna General Hospital.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Marie, sisters Elma, Mart (Garth) and Jean (George), daughter-in-law Pamela, numerous nieces, and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Earl and son Jack.

Born in Saskatchewan, the oldest of 4 girls, Helen grew up on a farm and went to the local school. She moved to B.C. in her early 20's to teach in the Okanagan and met the love of her life Earl Pattie. After they married, they landed in Burns Lake where they lived and raised their family for 35 years. Many fond memories of those years, with most happening at their cabin on Babine Lake.

When they both retired, they moved to Summerland, B.C. where they spent their winters but still travelled every summer up to Babine Lake. When Earl passed away in 2017, Helen moved to Kelowna to be closer to her children and sister, Martha.

A woman of many stories and always willing to share many of those with people around her, as she was willing to share her amazing baking creations, her pies were often fought over. Helen was still doing the Saturday Sun crosswords up to the last year of her life.

She always put family first, wrote the best-detailed letters, and had the most amazing appetite for food. Her strength and resilience were evident in the way she always bounced back and kept the attitude of "this too shall pass".

A funeral service will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Kelowna on June 10/24. A livestream will be available for those who cannot attend and can be found on the website for St. Pius X Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to BC Cancer Foundation in Helen's memory.
