October 12, 1933 - May 10, 2020
Irene was born in Victoria, B.C. on October 12th, 1933 to Gladys and William Campbell. Irene married her husband Ken in 1961 and moved to Burns Lake in 1978 at which time Ken had taken a position on the Francois Lake Ferry. Irene and Ken built a house at Takysie Lake where they resided for many years creating an abundance of fun-loving memories with family and friends. It was there that three Generations enjoyed many hours on the 'Takysie Lake Princess' designed and built by her husband Ken. Irene was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend.

Irene was the most fun loving, kind-hearted, non judgemental, generous person who welcomed anyone into her heart and home. Irene was known for her infectious laughter, her caring nature and for always making sure everyone had enough to eat!
On of so many fond memories was Irene enjoying 'Cruising' with her Granddaughters in her new white New Yorker (thinking she's all that), with some classic Rap music cranked! Irene loved her shows...Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud, Dancing with the Stars and enjoyed playing several card games especially with her good friend Shirley Reedy. Irene was also known to play a mean game of Charades. Irene's favourite curse words were 'Oh Sugar" and 'Wouldn't that just frost your socks!'
When Irene cooked for her family, you would think an Army was coming. She was know for her 'Special Gravy' and no one could compete with her roasted potatoes or potato salad. One of Irene's favourite things to eat was 'A Nice Hot Bowl of Soup'
Irene had a 'slight' obsession with Dolls (which was inherited by from her Mother) and over the years, had collected many!
Irene's pride and joy was her family and Irene without a doubt, was the core of the family. Irene lived a long life with much joy and provided us all with many blessings. It was an honour and privilege to be a receiver of her love and her spirit will live on within us. Irene will forever by greatly missed by all who loved her.
Many thanks to Dr. Norman and all the staff at the Pines who all went above and beyond in these unprecedented times. Our family is forever grateful for enabling us to say our goodbyes 'all be it in somewhat of a unconventional way'. We know in our hearts that our Mom knew she was surrounded by family and love.
Celebration of Life will be held at Takysie Lake Resort September 2021.
