April 3, 1927 - September 28, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jannetta Christine Norris, in her 92nd year, on September 28, 2019 in Burns Lake, B.C.
Jannetta was born at her family home near Decker Lake, B.C. on April 3, 1927 to Edgar & Elizabeth Merrill.
Jannetta was predeceased by her parents & siblings (Eddie, Lyman, Ernie & Adelaide), 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She is survived by her daughters Betty Eakin (Harold), Dorry Dougall and Peggy Hill (Don), as well as 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Jannetta married Klaas Koop in Birch River, Manitoba where all 3 girls were born and raised on the family farm. When the girls were young, Jannetta returned to Burns Lake to live near family where she met and married Ted Hultkrans. Ted and Jannetta loved fishing, camping, hunting, gardening, berry picking and exploring many parts of Northern BC together. Jannetta worked at various jobs - drycleaners, chambermaid, and as a homemaker within the communities she lived. In her later years, she was able experience RV travelling and many road trips, with late husband Arnie Norris, touring many places she had never seen. Jannetta and Arnie loved dancing, music, and listening to her daughters sing. She enjoyed the time she was able to spend living at their cabin on Babine Lake until their move into Heritage Manor.
Jannetta was always very creative and resourceful - she had ways of making something out of nothing, making things work better or look nicer. Jannetta had a life long passion for rock hounding. Her baking and Sunday dinners were always amazing, she always had a fully stocked root cellar with all sorts of canning including moose meat, fish, jams, jellies vegetables and fruits. She never seemed to complain about her lot in life or that she lacked anything. Jannetta had a witty sense of humor and loved to laugh. Even in her later years, despite many aches and pains, she could find humor in a lot of situations.
She touched many lives along the way and will be missed by family and her friends from Heritage Manor, The Pines and many in the community.
We will miss you mom, grandma, great grandma. We love you very much! A celebration of life will be held in the spring!
