Oct. 23, 1925 - May 16, 2005

Jim Brewer was born on October 23, 1925 at Southbank, B.C. He passed away peacefully in his home in Sorrento on May 16, 2005.

Jim was predeceased by his mother when he was only one year old. He was raised on the farm at Noralee by his father for the first five years of his life. His dad, Marcus Brewer (Jim Sr.), then remarried, to Mabel O’Neil (Hendricks) and Jim grew up with his sisters Kay (Remanda), Jean (Patterson) and Betty (Hamp).

When Jim was 21 years old, he married Myrl (Goodwin) and they had four children, Doug, Tom, Teresa and Carl. Jim and Myrl and family lived in Decker Lake for 20 years, and then Burns Lake for 20 years.

In his early years, Jim worked in logging camps, mills and drove lumber truck. He worked for the Ministry of Highways from 1963 - 1988 as a grader operator.

After retiring to Sorrento, he enjoyed curling in the winters and golfing all summer. He won a gold medal for golfing in the 2002 Senior Games held in Prince George. He was also proud of his curling teams “8 ender” in 2001.

Jim is predeceased by his son Carl in 1979. He is survived by his wife Myrl, sons Doug (Sheena) and Tom (Sherille), daughter Teresa (Glenn), grandchildren Kamla, Angela, Kyle, Jeremy, Jordan, Justin, Matthew and Cali.

It was Jim’s wish to have his ashes “go home” and be buried with his mother at Francois Lake.

There will be a reception on Saturday, July 9 at the Decker Lake Hall from 2 - 4 p.m. You are welcome to come and join the family in a celebration of Jim’s life.
