Passed away peacefully, May 28, 2009 at Burns Lake Hospital. He is lovingly remembered by friends at Takysie and Burns Lake. John was born May 27, 1919 at Sonningdale, Saskatchewan. He moved to Takysie Lake around 1950, and worked as a logger in the Takysie Lake/Cheslatta area. John was a car guy so he took a Chicago correspondence course in autobody in 1953. Guenter Autobody was operating in Takysie Lake from the sixties until his retirement in 1984. In retirement he concentrated on his bowling, winning awards and many badges. He had a stroke when he was 83 forcing him to move to Heritage Manor in Burns Lake. John truly loved his way of life at Takysie. He didn't let go of his long time home there, living there most weekends, spring through fall. John had a stroke while celebrating his 90th birthday, passing the following morning.
