With sadness, we announce the passing of Laurette Gautron, age 96, on May 31 at the Burns
Lake Hospital.
She was born in Lorette, Manitoba on August 22, 1922. She married Joseph Ruel in Ste. Anne, Manitoba and they had 7 children. After Joseph died, Laurette married Raymond Gautron in Surrey, BC and became step mom to his four children.
While mom was growing up, she learned to play the piano, accordion and violin and spent many evenings jamming with her friends in Surrey. She was also well travelled having gone to Hawaii, Fiji, Martinique, Barbados, France, Serbia, and Israel.
Laurette moved to Burns Lake 15 years ago to live with her daughter and son-in-law Paulette
and Rory McKenzie. She was devoted to her community in the Catholic Church and spent many Sundays teaching Sunday School to the children and helping the priest prepare Sunday Mass.
Laurette is predeceased by her son Roger Ruel and survived by her 6 children, Dianne (Brad) Kirk, Paulette (Rory) McKenzie, Gilles (Karyn) Ruel, Susan (Dave) Wade, Claude (Debbie) Ruel,
and Gisele (Danny) Uzzell, including 3 stepdaughters and many many grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her.
