“GONE FISHING”

Maynard (Dick) Nourse eldest son of Matthew and Ina Nourse, made his final journey home March 21, 2008 at the age of 90.

Predeceased by his parents Matt and Ina Nourse, his wife of over fifty years Marilyn, second wife Pat, sister Olive Vollan, and brother Charles Nourse.

Dick left Burns Lake as a teenager, moved to Vancouver BC, and later to Detroit Michigan, where he became an air traffic controller. Dick was also a pilot, ham radio operator, local video historian, and excellent ballroom dancer.

His heart was always in Burns Lake and when he and his wife Marilyn retired they bought their lakeshore property. Dick enjoyed traveling but he was happiest at home looking out over Françoise Lake, bird watching, fishing and duck hunting.

Dick had a tireless sense of humor and over the years gathered quite a collection of stories, which he loved to tell. His warmth and generosity will be missed by all who were part of his life: sister-in-law Patricia Nourse, niece Rita (Nourse) Hiatt (Larry ) and children Den and Nick (Fawn) Hiatt, nephew Ron Nourse (Gloria) and children Jennifer, (Travis) Steve and Allison Nourse, niece Karen (Vollan) Patrick and daughter Morgan Mallett, nephew Maynard Vollan, and children Christopher, Kevin and Heather.

What a beautiful memory he left for all of us.

Karen, Ron and Rita thank the staff at Tweedsmuir House, Lake District Hospital doctors and nurses, John and Sandra Barth, Judy Stratton, and Monika Rush, for being with Dick during his final days. No funeral by request. A dance in Dick’s memory is planned for a later date.
