Patricia Lynn Heyink (nee: Amies) passed away with her family by her side, on June 17, 2008 at the age of 58. She is survived by her husband, John; daughters, Corrine (Josh) and Lana (Chuck); grandchildren, Brendan, Mackenzie, Jaden, Jackson and Julia; her father and mother, Bob & Bunny; sisters, Jan (Brian) & Kathy(John); and many other family and friends.

Pat was born in Vancouver on April 12, 1950. She graduated from North Surrey High School in 1968 and shortly thereafter met Johnny, her sweetie. They were married in Surrey on June 26, 1971. They had their two girls before moving to Burns Lake in 1981, which became their true home.

Pat worked as a cashier for the Economart/SuperValu where she remained happily working with the public and spreading her sunshine disposition for 17 years. In 2000, Pat and John bought the Burns Lake Laundromat. Pat loved the business and the customers who became friends. She would share a coffee with the locals or tourists and listen to their stories. Friends and family were Pat's priority. She was always happy, positive and smiling. Her laughter was contagious and never ending. It was impossible not to join in her hysterics;

Pat enjoyed her transition into Grandmother more than any other stage in her life. She was in the room for the birth of each of her five grandchildren. The kids were Grandma’s greatest gifts. She spent as much time with them as she could; attending their games, concerts, tea parties and camping trips.

Pat’s legacy will be her girls and grandchildren. We have been taught dignity, grace, compassion and love; for that we will be forever grateful. Pat loved Burns Lake and Burns Lake loved her back. She will be sadly missed by all.

“Love is like a butterfly: It goes where it pleases and it pleases wherever it goes.”
