Peter Derksen, long time Burns Lake resident, passed away peacefully March 10th 2019 in his home in Kamloops B.C. after a long battle with cancer.

Pete was born May 4th, 1942 in Saskatchewan, moving to Burns Lake (year unknown) along with his parents Aaron and Olga Derksen, and his 4 brothers and 5 sisters, Cornelius, Abraham, Mary, Tina, Olga (predeceased) and Jake, John, Margret and Agnes. Pete married Esther Schultz in 1966, they raised 3 children, Carey Derksen, Lana Dueck, and Kevin Derksen, living on Babine Lake Rd for many years. Pete spent a good portion of his working career in construction, and took pride in those projects, calling them "Peterbuilts" of which some are still around the community, the Burns Lake Police Detachment building, and the Muriel Mould Neighborhood Learning Center.

The most significant of accomplishments and pride are his 4 grandsons, 1 grand daughter and 3 great grandsons.

A casual memorial will be held at the cemetary in Burns Lake, BC on Saturday June 15th 2019 at 1 pm.
