Rhoda May Anderson
(nee Watt)
May 31, 1943 - May 26, 2017
She was a very special lady; kind, loving, generous, courageous and humble - to name just a few of her many positive attributes!
Rhoda was born in Burns Lake, was married to Errol Anderson for 55 years, and predeceased by him in Sept 2015. Together they had 3 children, Darrell (Louise) Dwayne (Ginny dd Nov 2005) and Donna (Gord); 4 grandchildren, TJ (Patrick), Tyrone (Nadina), Amy and Jesse; and 6 great grandchildren, Kendra, Alyssa, Nate, Eli, Taylor and Drew.
Rhoda was also predeceased by her parents, Lloyd (Smokey) and Verna, and her sister Sandra Helmkay - June 2016.
She is survived by her 2 lovely sisters, Donna Himech (Steve) and Pat Nestorowicz (Ed), her sister Sandra’s husband Marvin (our hero for so many reasons!), her brother-in-law Elmer (Doris) and sister-in-law Sonja (Doug) and a crew of very sweet nieces, nephews and their families!
The loss of Rhoda is also felt by Gary Hemmerling, who was a recent companion that she cared deeply for. We thank Gary for all the love and care he provided for our mom.
Rhoda was a long time volunteer in this community, mainly with hospice and the Canadian Cancer Society. Just last fall she received a Governor General’s award for more than 30 years of volunteer work.
Before she passed Rhoda asked family members to be sure to thank all of the people that supported her through her short illness. It started with Dr Annandale who showed amazing care and compassion, Dr. Graetz, the nurses, student nurses and cleaning staff at the beautiful Burns Lake hospital, especially Cathy Moroski who went far above and beyond, and all of her family, friends, and co-volunteers. Every day mom would say “Everyone is just so good!” Those were some of her last words.
But it was really she who was GOOD, the best mom we could ask for - we are so thankful!
