It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Rick on December 20, 2016. Rick was born in Vancouver, B.C., on July 13, 1948, the second son, to Jack and Mary Friesen. After graduating from high school Rick worked for several years for American Can in Vancouver. Rick then moved to Fort Nelson, B.C. in the mid 70s where he obtained his millwright ticket while working at Westcoast Transmission. There he met and married his wife, Dawn, and in 1982 they moved to their present location on Francois Lake.

Rick had fond memories of the Francois Lake area from the late 60s when he was here on his first successful moose hunt. Rick was an avid fisherman and loved the time he spent on Francois Lake or steel heading the Maurice River. The 2 years he spent working at the sawmill in Tahsis, B.C. was enjoyable due to the ocean fishing.

Rick’s other interests included hunting, raising Lynx, an avid reader, collecting old bottles, a history enthusiast and the making of beer and wine. Over the years he completed a variety of projects which included a greenhouse, lynx pens, sauna, small shop and the front deck railing.

Rick is survived by her loving wife of 41 years, brother Terry (Faye), son Andrew (Rebecca), granddaughters Lily and Martha, nephews and nieces.
