May 31, 1927 - September 2, 2020
Born in Speers, Saskatchewan on May 31, 1927 to Cornelius and Sarah (Redekopp) Martens. She was the fourth child in a family of nine. She grew up near Orley, Saskatchewan. In her teens she worked for farmers in the area which helped out with her family's needs.
In the fall of 1946, she met John D. Buhler and they were married in the spring of 1947. In the fall of 1952, with the promise of steady employment in BC, they boarded a train with their four children, and made the move to Burns Lake. They were blessed with 13 children. Sarah enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, crocheting, berry picking, canning and the beauty of nature.
In her later years she did many puzzles and loved playing canasta. Her door was always open, and she cherished every letter, phone call and visit from friends and family. Even as her health slowly declined, she still liked to make large pots of soup or a batch of bread to feed whoever may stop by.
She appreciated her home, the view form her window, and her neighbors at Heritage Manor. She was a very accepting, patient and caring wife, mom, grandma and friend.
Sarah passed away at home on the morning of Sept. 2, 2020.
