In Loving Memory ~
Viola Strimbold (nee Johnson) was born January 29th, 1934 in Burns Lake B.C. and passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 17, 2022.
Viola lived her childhood in Decker Lake before her parents and family moved to a farm at Forestdale.
Viola married Archie Strimbold on December 4, 1954. They raised five children in the Burns Lake area.
Viola did the bookkeeping for the company her and Archie started, E.A. Strimbold Ltd. Even though the bookkeeping was a full time job she was still able to be very involved with her children's lives whether it was helping with school and homework, driving kids to sporting events, 4-H meetings, ski training and ski events and the list goes on.
Viola was very involved with timing at many local ski events hosted by the Omineca Ski Club including the Canadian Championships to name a few.
She also assisted with timing at the World Cup Cross Country Ski event held in Vernon.
In later years Viola took up the hobby of quilting. She was an avid quilter and made each of her grandchildren quilts for their graduation, quilts for her great grandchildren and many quilts and table runners for family and friends.
Viola loved to have family and friends at her table for coffee, her door was always open. Many hours were spent quilting, scrap booking, knitting or just having a visit. Viola was always up for an adventure and as her brother, Rolf, said "If there's a car moving, Viola will jump in" She was always up for any drive and always enjoyed get aways and was able to do quite a bit of travelling.
Viola was predeceased by her parents, Anna and Esbjorn Johnson and husband, Archie.
She is survived by Paul (Christine), Karen (Peter Sirfalk), Marvin (Brenda) Max (Laurel) and Carolyn (Jim Buhler). Her grandchildren Eric, Bjorn, Lars, Jonas, Karl (Jen), Derek (Ashley), Erika (Jared Bilan) Luke, Kurt (Eva) and Amanda (Jason Matson).
Great grandchildren Hannah, Henrik, Eleanor, Howard, Amelia, Kaycee and James.
Viola is also survived by her brother Rolf Johnson and sister-in-law Linda (Lee Bremner) and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
There was a celebration of life held for Viola on July 22, 2022 in Burns Lake.
The family would like to give thanks to the doctors and hospital staff that cared for Viola in both Vancouver and Burns Lake.
