Christy Clark wants to distract you

Christy Clark has released a budget that she hopes will make you forget everything that has happened in the last 16 years

Editor:

Christy Clark has released a budget that she hopes will make you forget everything that has happened in the 16 years since the B.C. Liberals took power. But her “forget everything” budget can’t erase years of neglecting you, your family and your community.

It’s no wonder Christy Clark wants to distract people from her record.

She wants you to forget that she took an extra $300,000 from her wealthy donors, while wages for everyday people failed to keep up with rising costs.

Christy Clark wants you to forget that she gave her donors and people at the top a billion dollars in tax breaks, while charging the average family $1000 more for electricity, car insurance and health care premiums.

Medical services premiums have doubled under the B.C. Liberals. But Christy Clark wants you to forget that her pre-election promise to cut MSP still leaves you paying more than you were before the Liberals took power.

Christy Clark’s “forget everything” budget won’t bring back the 30,000 good paying forestry jobs that have been lost under the B.C. Liberals.

It doesn’t even address the fact that most new jobs in B.C. are low-wage and part-time. Only one in 10 of those jobs are outside of Vancouver. Under Christy Clark, B.C. has had the worst wage growth in Canada.

After years of working only for the wealthy and the well-connected, Christy Clark will say anything to win the next election.

But half of British Columbians are living pay cheque to pay cheque. People are drowning in debt. For many, buying a home is out of reach, and renting is too expensive.

Christy Clark's economy doesn't work for you, because Christy Clark doesn't work for you.

The B.C. Liberals want you to forget that there is a deficit in the services that matter to you. Christy Clark has spent the last five years wining and dining donors at $20,000-a-plate dinners, instead of focusing on making life better for ordinary people.

She chose not to work for you after the last election. Why should you believe she’ll work for you after the next one? We can’t afford another four years of Christy Clark.

Sincerely,

John Horgan,

Leader of the B.C. NDP
