The Bear Lake singers pow wow drum group has recently lost a nephew, a brother, a cousin, a singer and a dancer. Kyle Roland Abraham Daniels was only 21 years of age when he was tragically killed in Qu'appelle, Saskatchewan on Feb. 19, 2011. The Bear Lake drum group, along with Kyle's mom Violet, the Abraham family and the many youth that are hurt and angry want closure to this tragic loss.
We are having a one day memorial pow wow on July 2, 2011 at the high school here in Burns Lake.
We need the community's help in funding this event by donating funds, gifts for raffles, door prizes and loonie auctions. We will also need help feeding the many dancers and singers as well as the general public at lunch and supper.
We expect the even to cost about between $9000 to $11000 for the one day event.
The cost will cover renting the building, host drum, emcee, arena directors, sound system and food to feed everyone.
The family will be holding a grass dance special, a chicken dance special and a hand drum special along with the host drum 'eyahey nakoda' a North American champion drum group will bring in many dancers and singers. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.
