No more hidden taxes

I have been in business for 40 years here in Burns Lake.

The only way that I have been able to do that is to listen to my wife who did the books.

Every time there was an increase in cost we had to pass it on to the end consumer, (which is you).

So when the Liberals introduced the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) all I could see was an other cost increase.

This is why I voted on the petition to get rid of it.

Then they explained that the HST would be treated the same as the goods and services tax (GST), which means the cost of the tax is exempt on all company purchases.

A cost that was previously passed on, but now it stays in the company.

We were working on increasing our labour rate this year, but if the HST stays then we don't need to do this because our bottom line is going to stay the same, and therefore not push the prices up.

So when you decide to vote on getting rid of the HST please consider how many other business's were also about to increase their prices.

Basic economics works only when consumers pay for everything that goes into a product.

Materials, labour, overhead costs, profits, management labour and non exempt taxes, PST (provincial sales tax).

So do you really want to pay taxes on taxes or do you like to pay only for the product and then pay the tax on it.?

No more hidden taxes.
