Burns Lake’s mountain bike trails recently received glowing reviews from one of British Columbia’s elite riders.

Peter Findlay of Kamloops has ridden the best single track trails in British Columbia, but feels Burns Lake bike trails are just that, some of the finest in the province.

Burns Lake’s trails rank up there with the best in B.C. for single-track trail, according to Findlay, who added that he was pleased to see that Burns Lake Mountain Biking Association offers something unique for all levels of riders.

Findlay was in Burns Lake to enter the Dante’s Inferno cross-country race in the 2011 Big Pig Mountain Bike Festival.

Crossing the finish line first in a time of two hours and 55 minutes (hardly out of breath), he praised the quality of the course.

He was also impressed with the number and variety of trails that have been developed in such a short time. He felt everybody would have fun riding here and vowed to return to ride our trails again.

The course length was increased by approximately 10 kilometres over last year, in keeping with the Dante’s Inferno theme.

After 10 years of the event, the race will be 100 kilometers long.
