The Burns Lake Minor Hockey Association celebrated a championship season during its awards night last Sunday.

Two of its teams, the midget A1s and the peewees ended their season’s as playoff champions.

The peewee team won the zone and league Tier 4 playoffs, and fell just shy in their run to a provincial championship, finishing fourth at the event.

The midget A1 team were a dominant team throughout the season, winning the zone and league playoff championships, and ended their season by defeating Kelowna in the championship game at the provincials in Clearwater to win the title.

It was a special night all around, as each team award their most sportsmanlike, most improved, most dedicated and most valuable player awards.

Other awards handed out include coach and junior coach of the year, senior and junior referee of the year, goalie of the year and volunteer of the year.

In initiation, Tessa Green won most dedicated, Nicholas Hiebert won most improved and Landon Gillanders won most sportsmanlike.

In novice, Alexzander Klassen won most dedicated, Hailey Crouse won most improved and Cody Higginson won most sportsmanlike.

In atom, Dakota Yarjau won most dedicated, Michale Chalmers won most improved and Brody Green won most sportsmanlike.

In peewee, Garrett Radley won most dedicated, Cormick Turner won most improved, Cameron Peterson won most sportsmanlike and the co-MVP’s were Spencer Brown and Blaine Worthing.

In Bantam, Devin Anderson won most dedicated, Evan Vessey won most improved, Avery Wilson won most sportsmanlike and the MVP was Kian Strimbold.

For the girls team, Ashley Cassidy won most dedicated, Mikaylie Culberson won most improved, Michelle Abraham won most sportsmanlike and MVP was Rylie Eakin.

The midget A2 team’s most dedicated player was Dino Wiebe, Dallas Patrick won most improved, Tyler Sam won most sportsmanlike and MVP was Brandon Larsen.

The midget A1 team decided to forego handing out team awards.

Coach of the year was Wes Hart and junior coach of year went to Jordan Minger and Evan Vessey.

Senior referee of the year was Ken Chalmers and junior referee of the year was Pierce Hofer.

Goalie of the year was awarded to Tyler Havens.

Volunteer of the year was awarded to Mike and Renee Skinner.
