Ninety-five racers enjoyed a beautiful winter’s day of cross-country ski racing at the Omineca Ski Club in Burns Lake.

Ninety-five competitors enjoyed excellent race conditions at the Omineca Ski Club trails on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013 for race three of the Teck Northern Cup Series and the Omineca Open.

All ages and levels of skill found a place to challenge each other over varying race lengths from as short as a quick 500 metre loop around the race staging area for the youngest racers to a demanding 22.5 km circuit that the fastest racers completed in little over an hour.

The Omineca Ski Club was well-represented by its youth members who showed a lot of promise for a strong ski club in the years to come, with many podium finishes between them.

The day ran smoothly with the only glitch several junior boy racers misreading the course markers and missing a crucial turn. Racers and their families came from Smithers, Prince George and points in between for the day.

The fourth and final race of the Teck Northern Cup Series will be held in Prince George on March 2, 2013.

Podium finishes for the Omineca club were too many to list.
